Postdoctoral Position in XMASS
Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe, the University of Tokyo, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Position in XMASS, a direct dark matter experiment at the Kamioka Observatory.
XMASS is a single-phase liquid xenon detector to look for dark matter particles with a largest mass of 850kg and with the lowest energy threshold of 0.3 keV among the operation liquid xenon experiments. We will soon accumulate a full year of physics data after the refurbishment of the detector to reduce background. For our next step, we envision to build a 5 ton detector called XMASS1.5.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in both software and hardware development and to analyze data. Programming skills in C++ and data analysis experience are required. Applicants must have a PhD in experimental particle/astroparticle/nuclear physics. Kavli IPMU is one of the leading institutions of the XMASS experiment.
A term of this appointment is till the end of September, 2017. Interested candidates should include a CV, research statement, publication list, and at least three letters of recommendation and upload your application to the web application system and also notify the contact person below.
The general information about IPMU postdoctoral position can be seen at “ http://www.ipmu.jp/job-opportunities/postdoctral-2014“. The position is open August 10th, 2014 until filled. Applications are reviewed in the order they are received.
