He/she will take a major role particularly in research and development of cryogenics technologies for the Large-scale Cryogenic Gravitational wave Telescope (LCGT; KAGRA), and future KEK projects.

The Institute of Particle and Nuclear Studies (IPNS) invites applications for a professor position.
The successful candidate is expected to play a leading role to coordinate safety issues in the facilities of IPNS at the Tsukuba campus. Cooperative work with the KEK Health and Safety Office is assumed to formulate and ensure safety standard by means of regular instruction and inspection.
The issues related to radiation safety are covered primarily covered by the KEK Radiation Science Center. As the manager in Safety of IPNS, the person selected is also expected to work on these issues closely collaborating with the center.

Accelerator Laboratory of KEK is responsible for design, construction, operation, and improvement of the J-PARC proton accelerators, SuperKEKB collider, Photon Factory accelerators (PF and PF-AR), the electron-positron injector Linac, and R&D of relevant accelerators. It is also promoting extensive research on accelerator technologies for future projects such as next generation light sources and linear colliders, as well as accelerator theory.
The successful candidates will be involved in one of those accelerator projects and be expected to engage in not only R&D but also operation and maintenance work for the corresponding accelerators.
