Institute Materials Structure Science – Assistant Professor
The Institute of Materials Structure Science (IMSS), which is affiliated to KEK acting as an Inter-University Research Institute Corporation, promotes interdisciplinary and complimentary use of four types of quantum beams, synchrotron radiation (SR), neutron, muon and positron, in materials and life sciences research. The successful candidate will belong to Life Science Group of the Photon Factory (PF), and is expected to play pivotal roles in pursuing advanced structural life science mainly utilizing X-ray scattering/diffraction techniques. He/she will be expected to take the responsibilities of operation and maintenance of the related beamlines and experimental apparatuses as well as to promote active user programs of the PF. Moreover, he/she will also belong to Structural Biology Research Center in IMSS, and be expected to develop an advanced method for X-ray crystallography of biological macromolecules in PF.

The successful candidate will belong to the Photon Factory (PF) and is expected to play pivotal roles in pursuing research on photo-induced materials dynamics utilizing synchrotron radiation and pulsed lasers under the “Photon and Quantum Basic Research Coordinated Development Program” by MEXT.

The successful candidate will belong to the Photon Factory (PF) and is expected to pursue the development of automated experimental systems utilizing robotics, or to work on development of fundamental experimental techniques of synchrotron radiation research. He/she will also take responsibilities of operation and maintenance of beamlines and experimental apparatuses as well as to promote active user programs of the PF.

Institute Materials Structure Science – Postdoctoral Fellow
The Institute of Materials Structure Science (IMSS), which is affiliated to KEK acting as an Inter-University Research Institute Corporation, promotes interdisciplinary and complimentary use of four types of quantum beams, synchrotron radiation (SR), neutron, muon and positron, in materials and life sciences research. The successful candidates belong to the Photon Factory (PF), and will play a role in promoting the following research areas. 1) Purification, crystallization, and structural analysis of biological macromolecules 2) Theoretical research on ultrafast photoelectron diffraction of single-oriented molecules 3) Synchrotron-radiation based photoemission study on the surface and interface of functional materials 4) Development of ultra-fast time-resolved XAFS experiments and its applications including theoretical calculations 5) Materials structural physics by using hard & soft X-ray, and the other quantum beams of IMSS 6) Development of the X-ray area detector system and its applications.

The successful candidate will belong to the Muon Science Laboratory (MSL) and is expected to pursue the condensed matter and material sciences using muon, or to work on development of fundamental techniques regarding muon source and beam handling. He/she will also play active role to promote user programs of MSL as well as to take responsibilities on the operation and maintenance of beamlines and experimental apparatus.
